Assistant Conductor of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Stephanie Childress, sat down with Classic 107.3 CEO and GM John Nasukaluk Clare to discuss her conducting debut with the SLSO this weekend and how she selected the program, which includes Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony, The Day Dawn by Sally Beamish, and Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings.

Stephanie Childress began her musical career as a violinist; now in her early twenties, she is making her mark as a conductor. Stephanie’s remarkable musicianship and command of a broad scope of repertoire has led to engagements with symphony orchestras, contemporary chamber groups, and opera houses. She established her own ensemble, Orchestra Rheia, in 2019.
