• Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”, an evergreen holiday favorite ever since its premiere in 1892, is broadcast complete this year. We’ll feature the RCA/Sony Classical release featuring Leonard Slatkin conducting the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in Powell Hall to honor the 100th anniversary of that venue. This was the first Nutcracker recording to have been recorded in digital stereo and issued in that format on compact disc in 1985.
