Arianna at WCHOF

Brian Woods, Co-Music Director of the World Chess Hall of Fame, discusses the upcoming concert with the Arianna String Quartet on September 22nd.

From the WCHOF website:

The internationally acclaimed Arianna String Quartet is delighted to appear for the first time at the World Chess Hall of Fame in a special performance of two captivating works that changed the sound of chamber music forever: Debussy’s beloved “String Quartet,” and “Leyendas” by American Composer Gabriela Frank. Debussy’s classic work combines Eastern aesthetics with French nuance, while Gabriela Frank’s distinctive tour de force celebrates the composer’s rich Peruvian heritage. Join us as the Arianna String Quartet transports us to distant worlds of brilliant colors, rhythmic energy, and emotional intensity.

The Arianna String Quartet has firmly established itself as one of America’s finest chamber ensembles. Their performances have been described as “radiant from the first moment,” (A.M. News, Léon, Mexico) with “emotional commitment, fluent virtuosity, and poetic vision” (Pretoria News, South Africa). Based in Saint Louis since 2000, the Arianna String Quartet is celebrating 30 years of making music for audiences around the world.
