Music from Distant Traditions

Host John Uhlemann shares his collection of folk music from around the globe with listeners. Join John and explore the world through beautiful music! Music from Distant Traditions presents not just folk and traditional music, but also other styles of music that are typical of the culture they come from, played by musicians whose target audience is those around them, not the international market. This is what the Bulgarians call “Narodna Musika” – “National Music”, and it includes sophisticated city styles, art music, and even some types of film music. Listen for an engaging hour with this wild and wonderful, always interesting, and strangely beautiful music.
