Patricia Racette – Songs for St. Louis
Host Tom Sudholt and Patricia Racette, Artistic Director of the Gerdine Young Artist's Program at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, discuss Songs for St. Louis: A Concert in the Commons, which airs Monday, November 16, at 7 pm on Nine PBS and again on November 22 at 11 am and November 26 at 7 pm. The concert, which Ms. Racette conceived, features three talented artists from Opera Theatre's 2020 Gerdine Young Artist program performing great aria classics of the operatic canon to standards of American musical theater.
Hélène Grimaud’s The Messenger
Keyboard Extravaganza – "There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself," Johann Sebastian Bach supposedly said about the piano. Hear remarkable music for that instrument, as well as for harpsichord and organ, every Friday this month from 6am to 6pm on Classic 107.3! Hélène Grimaud's new studio album, The Messenger, was released on October 2, 2020. For this concept album, Grimaud created a fascinating pianistic dialogue between Mozart and the Ukrainian-born contemporary composer Valentin Silvestrov.
