Award-winning composer Stacy Garrop talks with Classic 107.3 host Julie Schuster about the premiere of her Goddess Triptych with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra on March 12 and 13. Ms. Garrop discusses the stories behind the work as well as storytelling in her other compositions and how important stories are to modern audiences. She also shares a little bit about how she creates her works and offers some advice for aspiring composers.

Julie says, “Our thoughtful conversation was wide-ranging and touched on a lot of different topics, including the recent International Women’s Day. I truly enjoyed getting to know Stacy and I’m looking forward to the premiere of Goddess Triptych with the SLSO!”

From the SLSO website: A concert of myth and legend opens with the world premiere of Stacy Garrop’s dramatic Goddess Triptych. Jean-Yves Thibaudet returns with Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Egyptian” concerto, which rolls and leaps. Paul Dukas’ La Péri and Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird portray mythical beings, both cunning and liberating.
