Host Tom Sudholt and Patricia Racette, Artistic Director of the Gerdine Young Artist’s Program at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, discuss Songs for St. Louis: A Concert in the Commons, which airs Monday, November 16, at 7 pm on Nine PBS and again on November 22 at 11 am and November 26 at 7 pm. The concert, which Ms. Racette conceived, features three talented artists from Opera Theatre’s 2020 Gerdine Young Artist program performing great aria classics of the operatic canon to standards of American musical theater, including pieces composed by Mozart, Puccini, Bernstein, and songs from La bohèmeRigolettoCamelotSouth Pacific, and West Side Story. Songs for St. Louis will be the first project supported by Opera Theatre’s new Voices Fund: A Path for Empathy, Dialogue, and Change.
