Anu-Rag School of Music
Anu-Rag School of Music is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to a) educating children of Indian origin and Americans on both Indian Classical Music and Western Music, b) bringing commonality between Indian Classical Music and Western Music through “East Marries West” programs and c) exploring potential therapeutic values of Music for palliation of pain, reduction of anxiety and depression in cancer and in dementia patients.
Center for Indian Cultural Education-Bal Vihar of St. Louis
A non-profit organization, the Center has been serving the Metro St. Louis Indian community since its inception in 1992. The primary focus of this organization is to provide Indian cultural education to students age 5-18, its application and integration with the global multicultural and multifaceted society. The ultimate goal is “to throw the light of cultural knowledge on every child, to make every child an outstanding citizen and to spread the song of peace and harmony around the world.”
Dances of India
Dances of India was founded in St. Louis by Asha Prem in 1976. It was the first classical Indian dance company to be established in Missouri. She performed for years in India, including before a former President of India, before coming to the US. www.DancesofIndiaStLouis.org
Nartana Premachandra, a writer, classical Indian dancer, and public speaker, is now President of Dances of India. She has danced and performed classical Indian dances all her life. Sangeetha is a not-for-profit society with a mission to promote Indian Classical Music in the State of Missouri, particularly in the metropolitan area of St. Louis through presentation of high quality Indian classical music concerts by India’s recognized and internationally acclaimed artistes and emerging artistes of exceptional talent.
Since its inception in 1984, Sangeetha has sponsored over 200 concerts by very eminent and internationally acclaimed stalwarts and young, promising artistes of Indian classical music in both Carnatic and Hindustani classical music styles.
