Classic 107.3’s Julie Schuster spoke with Anna Clyne ahead of the U.S. premiere of her composition PIVOT with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, which co-commissioned the work. They talk about where the new piece gets its name, what kept Anna busy during the past year, and what’s coming up next for the Grammy-nominated composer. (Spoiler alert: she’ll be back in St. Louis very soon!)

You can hear PIVOT at Powell Hall on November 19 at 10:30am and on November 20 at 8pm. The concerts will be led by David Danzmayr, who is making his SLSO conducting debut. Also featured at the performances are Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, “The Great,” and Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy with violinist Simone Porter.
